A Soccer-Centric Bar Has Kicked Into North Park

By Frank Sabatini Jr.

Emerging in the space that previously housed Toronado on North Park’s famed 30th Street is Fairplay, a bar and eatery that promises a hefty side of international soccer once it fully gets off the ground in the coming days.

The venture was launched by the owners of Fernside in South Park and Bluefoot Bar & Lounge in North Park.

A menu of casual fare will complement signature cocktails and an accommodating selection of local craft beer. Wines on tap are also in the offing.

But the big draw may be co-owner Adam Cook’s love of local and international soccer, which will result in the airing of global matches on multiple flat screens. Cook and his team are also committed to supporting San Diego Wave FC, which is part of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Fans of baseball, football, hockey, rugby and most other sports won’t be left out of the equation because the owners plan on covering all those bases as well.
