A dog lover’s spectacle (Gaslamp Events)

Canines Rule this Parade
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
Dog-watching is never more fun than when seeing them literally parading through the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter all decked out for Christmas.
This year’s annual Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade takes place at 1 p.m., Dec. 16, beginning at MLK park in front of the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. From there, nearly 100 pooches and their owners will embark on one of the most lovable processions through the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, showing off holiday dog wear and accouterments fit for the season as they vie to become winners in a number of categories called out by judges.
Dogs and owners will begin gathering in the park at 10 a.m. that day for photo ops and to peruse merchandise booths by various pet stores. Then after the parade, starting at 2 p.m., the hotel will host Pups at the Pub, allowing doggy parents to imbibe on craft beers amid live music while their pets (hopefully) take a much-needed break.
Registration to enter the parade is $25 per pet.
