…that a home in Mission Hills boasts one of the most elaborate front-yard gardens in the country?

Known as Harper’s Topiary Garden, the green shrubs have been transformed into everything from animals and humans to squiggly artistic shapes better suited for some sort of far-out fantasy land.

Located at 3549 Union St., the home is owned by artist Edna “Scissorhands” Harper, who to date has sculpted more than 50 figures from the meticulously irrigated flora. She began the project in 1994 and was inspired by global travels she enjoyed over the years with her husband.

The rules of thumb when visiting: Look and feel free to take pictures, but stay on the sidewalk and don’t touch!
