Little Italy’s ArtWalk Gains National Attention
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
USA Today has thrown a spotlight on the annual Mission Fed ArtWalk in Little Italy by nominating it as one of “the best art festivals in the country.” The mention comes in a readers poll that is accepting public votes until March 18.
The national newspaper narrowed down the field to 20 art festivals across the country, which also includes the Black & Brown Comix Arts Festival in San Francisco; Artscape in Baltimore; the Sante Fe International Folk Art Market in New Mexico; the Sawdust Summer Festival in Laguna Beach; and more. The survey will ultimately conclude with 10 winners to be announced on March 29.
San Diego’s Mission Fed ArtWalk was cited for “serving as an open-air gallery where more than 250 visual and performing artists showcase their distinctive work.” It goes on by saying that it is “the largest art festival and cultural event in Little Italy.”
This year’s ArtWalk will be held April 27 and 28 in areas around 1370 India St.
