Welcome Back, Counterpoint
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
The Golden Hill bistro famous for its artisan eats and serious craft beers has reopened after taking a short hiatus to remodel.
Counterpoint owner Cameron Fomby launched the vertical two-level establishment 15 years ago at the quiet, southern end of 25th Street. Its sleek, contemporary construct and colorful art appointments became an instant hit among residents of the neighborhood’s historic homes.
The changes Fomby made are subtle. They include additional bar seating, refurbished booths and some textural resurfacing in certain areas. The upper level is still a work in progress.
An accommodating beer, wine, and cocktail list remains intact. So do signature dishes such as chicken or sausage flat breads, beef or veggie burgers, a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich made with smoked Gouda, mushrooms and bacon jam, and more. (We should note that Counterpoint’s famous fried bologna sandwich was taken off the menu some time ago. It was a fun, retro offering that we vote to have restored!)
