Aesthetics and Coffee in North Park

The owners of Salvage Salon on Ray Street have opened Lovesong Coffee + Market next door. Their new business is a sleek eye-appealing cafe tailored to communal lounging and coffee purists. Mike and Jessica Anderson say their intention is to “bring back the fun in coffee shops of yesteryear.”

Coffee beans are roasted in-house and end up in playful “top shelf” drinks such as The Old West made with sarsaparilla, vanilla, sage, espresso and milk. The Salvage Sister blends espresso with caramelized fig, rosemary and smoked salt while the sweeter-tasting Pool Party! incorporates mango and coconut.

As designers, the Andersons injected both a modern and mid-Century flair to the space by using shiny wall tiles, classic light fixtures and assorted seat cushions. They also carved out a quaint “market area” for buying grab-and-go snacks and other retail items.

Lovesong is open daily from 6:30am to 7pm.
