Blick’s vast inventory of art supplies is jumping addresses (Blick Art Materials)

San Diego’s eminent art-supply store is taking a nomadic journey. Blick Art Materials, which has been anchored in Little Italy for nearly 40 years, will close its spacious store on India Street on June 8. But it will immediately reappear in the shuttered Joann Fabrics store at 3633 Midway Drive in Point Loma and remain there at least until settling into a newer home in North Park, at 30th and Lincoln streets.

“Our goal is to move to North Park sometime this year. We will maybe keep the space in Point Loma once we do. We just don’t know yet,” an employee recently told us.

The 10,000-square-foot building Blick leaves behind in Little Italy will be demolished to make way for Apres Little Italy, a mixed-use high rise scheduled to break ground in late fall.
