The Mother of All Sundaes

By Frank Sabatini Jr.

Leave it to San Diego’s Cadillac of confection shops, Extraordinary Desserts, to come up with the biggest and priciest sundae that we’ve ever seen.

Named the “extraordinary sundae,” the creation is designed to be shared unless your appetite defies gravity. It’s served deconstructed on a silver platter. What you get are multiple scoops of vanilla bean ice cream accompanied by bowls and chalices of hot fudge, candied almonds, chocolate-chip cookie bites, fresh strawberries and house-made whipped cream.

The cost is $42—but remember, you’re splitting the experience with two or three people.

Available only at Extraordinary Dessert’s Little Italy location, we were told the sundaes “are selling well” and may stick around well past summer.
