An Ensemble of Musicians Will Roll Into Town to Honor David Bowie
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
As with tributes of any kind connected to the legendary David Bowie, such events sell out way ahead of time. For the upcoming Celebrating David Bowie, a live concert featuring Todd Rundgren and other notable artists, tickets are selling briskly.
The concert will take place at 8 p.m., Oct. 6, in downtown’s renovated Balboa Theatre. Rundgren will interpret songs from Bowie’s vast catalog of music with the support of other accomplished musicians such as Adrian Belew, Angelo Moore, Angeline Saris, and several others.
The touring show appeared in multiple countries for a while until the pandemic hit. It resumes with a fresh start here in San Diego on the heels of the September 16 global release of the documentary, Moonage Daydream. The film focuses on Bowie’s chameleon life and career, and it is expected to run locally at select IMAX Theaters.
