An Iconic North Park Structure Receives Some Much-Needed Love
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
The lifeless mid-Century Waldorf Television Building at 3140 University Avenue is on its way to becoming a mixed-use property featuring 11 stylish residential units and more than 6,000 square feet of restaurant/retail space.
Entrepreneur Nathan Cadieux of North Park purchased the two-level 12,000-square-foot building last year and teamed up with locally based Moniker Design and OBR Architectural to restore some of the structure’s original features.
Moniker is a multi-brand group that operates in hospitality, event planning, apparel, property design, and real estate. The company plans on taking up residence in one of the office suites when the project is finished in late summer/early fall. It will also open Moniker Coffee Co and a retail shop within the building. The build-out will also make way for an outdoor patio and an Oaxacan-inspired restaurant.
The address was previously home to the former Last Real Gym, which shuttered more than a year ago.
