Music arts festival, Downtown waterfront
Hottest Ticket in Town
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
You’ll need to plan way ahead to gain entry into this year’s Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival, which will be held November 18-22 along various downtown waterfront locations such as Embarcadero Park North, the Broadway Pier, Ruocco Park, Seaport Village and other nearby sites.
Why the rush for tickets?
For starters, the festival returns after a two-year hiatus because of Covid. It picks up after attracting more than 30,000 attendees in 2019 to its multiple music stages and emerging artists.
Secondly, its comeback will usher in the likes of Gwen Stefani, Kings of Leon, the Zac Brown Band, and other established recording artists who are raising the caliber of headliners compared to past years. Needless to say, a sellout is predicted this time around.
In total, there will be a staggering 80-plus bands taking part, all of which should be finalized next month.
“Our goal with this 2022 lineup was to maintain a focus with emerging artists and artists with new music coming out this year, but to also take a significant step forward with bigger headline talent,” said Wonderfront co-founder and CEO Paul Thornton.
Water taxis, pedicabs, and the Old Town Trolley will offer transportation between venues throughout the three-day festival. Also, a portion of the festival proceeds will go to various charitable groups that help underprivileged youth as well as environmental causes.
