‘House of Blues is Rockin’ Again’
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
It’s beginning to feel a lot like “before times” at House of Blues, which sat dark from the onset of the pandemic in 2020 until July 24 of this year. That’s when its main concert hall reopened with a reasonably full schedule of live shows.
More recently, the venue’s restaurant and bar rebooted in conjunction with free musical performances on its Salvation Stage. Still in limbo, however, is House of Blues’ rousing gospel brunches on Sundays. A rep we spoke with couldn’t say for certain when or if the event will return. We’re keeping our fingers crossed it does.
In the meantime, shows on tap for the Salvation Stage include Nov. 10 and 26 performances by outlaw-country bluegrass musicians Ron Houston and The Berry Pickers. The latter is a four-man band from San Diego.
Additionally, indie singer-songwriter Kayla Ray brings her rising star to the dining room on Nov. 11 and 19. (She’s a fave on our playlist.) The lineup continues with the Stoney B Blues Band on Nov. 18; The Moneymen on Nov. 21; and more.
Note: Entry into main-stage concerts require either proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test within 72 hours of the shows. Neither are required for dining or enjoying shows on the Salvation Stage.
