Make Your Mark in Hillcrest

While construction for the Normal Street Promenade (between University and Lincoln avenues) remains well underway, San Diegans can permanently embed their names into the project with sponsored, engraved pavers made of stone. Money raised from the program will be used to cover miscellaneous expenses that are not included in the promenade’s overall construction budget of $27 million. The extra cash will be allocated for things such as gardening services, shade structures and cafe-style seating once the project comes to fruition in mid to late 2026.
The pavers are available in two sizes: 6×12 inches for $250 each; and 12×12 inches for $500 each. They allow for inscriptions of a few names and short messages–-and they will be placed in both the outer and inner sections of the promenade.
In the meantime, the quarterly mixer of the Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) from 5:00p to 7:00p on Oct. 14 happens to coincide with the organization’s annual meeting—and over wine. Open to the public, the combined event will be held at Negociant Winery on University Avenue. It marks the culmination of HBA’s feedback month in which members of the public can share their thoughts online about the association’s performance. It also gives attendees opportunities to network; ask questions about neighborhood development; and learn about the ongoing efforts for keeping Hillcrest safe and clean.
