New Beginnings at a Prime Restaurant Space in North Park

The attractive, two-level structure at 3823 30th St., which last housed the beloved Urban Solace restaurant, is about to be resuscitated after sitting empty for six years.

Distinguished by its wrought-iron trimmings in classic New Orleans fashion, the incoming tenant will be Bacari, a growing Los Angeles brand that focuses on tapas and curated wines from California and Europe.

Siblings Robert and Danny Kronfli own the chain, which currently enjoys eight locations throughout the L.A. area. The North Park site has been on their radar for nearly a year. Intent on retaining the architectural flair of the building, the pair will reportedly begin a general remodel later this year with the goal of opening in early 2026.

Urban Solace played a significant role in North Park’s culinary scene. It opened in 2007, at a time when the neighborhood’s pickings were slim for eating and drinking. Owned by chef Matt Gordon, the restaurant-bar brought elevated comfort food and crafty cocktails to the table. It was credited for causing a chain reaction that ushered in dozens of other trendy restaurants and bars to the vicinity.
