‘Night Market’ Springs Into New Cortez Hill Location
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
The pop-up food and crafts market that has been held sporadically on weekends over the past year from early afternoon to mid-evening has moved a few blocks west from its original Fifth Avenue location.
San Diego’s version of the 626 Night Market, which is named after the area code of its original, larger market in San Gabriel Valley, CA, is a mini model featuring about 35 vendors selling international street foods and unique crafts. (The one in San Gabriel Valley draws more than 250 vendors and is considered the largest market in the country.)
For its San Diego springtime run in April and May, the hours are from 1 to 10p on Saturdays and Sundays. The new location at 1350 Third Ave. will give attendees and merchants more wiggle room compared to the last site. There will also be a full bar.
Entry is free, although tickets are required because of limited capacity.
