A new art show has opened inside the San Diego Central Library, showcasing diverse works by artists from Tijuana and San Diego. The exhibit is titled “Occupy Thirdspace II/Ocupa Tercer Espacio II” and runs through May 2.
The collection encompasses multi-media pieces focusing on the relationship between visual arts and language, starting from the late 1980s to present.
In addition, the library also offers several virtual “teasers” of art and history exhibits in its “Behind the Scenes” series. Among them is Clara E. Breed & the Japanese American Incarceration, which features materials on loan from the Japanese American National Museum, San Diego State University, and the Japanese American Historical Society of San Diego.
Ranked as one of the best state-of-the-art libraries in the county since opening in 2013, the facility boasts an inventory of more than 5 million books, which include e-books. It’s also home to 1.6 million government documents.
