‘Saving Lives One Brain at a Time’
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
A fundraiser for raising awareness about a silent killer will be held on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum from 6 to 10 PM, Nov. 14.
The event is hosted by Resurrecting Lives Foundation, which supports the education and research of traumatic brain injury (TBI), as well as helping an estimated 750,000 veterans struggling with the condition.
Among the highlights of the fundraiser is a debut screening of a short film titled, “Brainstorms.” The documentary focuses on the plight of those living with TBI. It was produced by Tiny Apples, which is run by actor Al Pacino’s daughter, Julie Pacino. She will host a panel discussion after the screening.
The event also marks the first annual Think Different Awards, which honors four individuals who have taken extraordinary actions to improve the lives of TBI patients.
“There is so much to learn about TBI, and so many treatments out there that we need to continue making it a conversation so the efforts can be funded,” said former Army Captain and combat veteran Chad Jenkins, who will emcee the event.
Tickets are $150 per person, which includes hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.
