The NAT Welcomes Night Crawlers

Dodge the day trippers this season at the San Diego Natural History Museum—and enjoy half-price admission when you arrive after 4 p.m., which is when the museum normally closes during most of the year.

It currently offers extended hours until Sept. 2, allowing history buffs to roam the galleries and peruse the exhibits until 10 p.m. Visitors can also take in one of the best views of Balboa Park from the museum’s rooftop patio while supping on small plates created by Wolf in the Woods in Mission Hills. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages are also available.

Among the newest exhibitions geared especially for nature explorers is Expedition Baja, which focuses on the flora and fauna of the vast Baja peninsula.

Comic-Con had homes at the UCSD campus and the El Cortez before ultimately finding its way to the San Diego Convention Center, where it attracted 135,000 attendees in 2019.

Covid put the kibosh on the convention for the last two years, although it’s scheduled to return in all its colorful glory July 21-24.
