Time Travel Inside Comic-Con Museum
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
Many elements from the British sci-fi television series, Doctor Who, have practically come to life in the interactive exhibit, “Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder: Where Science Meets Fiction.”
Set to run until March of next year at the Comic-Con Museum, the eight-zone exhibit recently made its American debut here after touring through venues in England, Scotland and New Zealand.
Doctor Who originally began airing on London’s BBC network in 1963. It continued through the late 80s and attracted a global cult following.
The series captured the adventures of a mysterious Time Lord known as “the Doctor” who travels the universe in a time machine called TARDIS. The vessel would take on the dimensions and appearances of various objects that were common to its surroundings. The Time Lord, too, was able to change appearances while befriending a motley crew of companions when fighting evil enemies.
Many of the mind-bending stories and central characters come together in the exhibit, which reveals some of the show’s tech secrets and original props. Ever wonder why TARDIS was small in size on the outside and very large on the inside? You may very well find out by visiting the museum.
Tickets range from $12 to $30. Children 5 years and under are admitted free.
