Bayside Rollerskating Coming to Seaport Village
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
There had been vague talk since last summer of an open-air roller rink wheeling into Seaport Village. Fast-forward to right now, and we see the project nearly completed.
The attraction comes in the form of a smooth, concrete oval measuring a little more than 3,000 square feet. It is due to open this month.
The nearly finished rink is located within the Seaport Village complex at 821 W. Harbor Drive (near Bay Company Souvenirs and the upcoming Cork & Batter restaurant). It will accommodate 50 skaters at a time.
Ringer’s Roller Rink based in Encanto is behind the project. The company has operated a rink and arcade in that neighborhood for the past six years, originally under the name San Diego Derby United. Its Seaport Village outpost will afford visitors of all ages skate rentals, views of San Diego Bay, a gear shop, and snack concessions. The site will also be used for skating lessons.
Hours of operation will be from 10:00a to 10:00p daily. Admission prices will range from $18 to $26, depending on the time and day of the week.
