A Tough Act to Follow

By Frank Sabatini Jr.

Depending who you ask, David Bowie impersonator David Brighton pulls off all the varied looks and moves of the late superstar with convincing precision. Others say it’s an impossible feat, and that nobody should even dare try.

Bowie fans in San Diego will get to judge for themselves when Brighton takes the stage at 8:00p April 12 at the Balboa Theatre in The Gaslamp Quarter.

His show is titled: Space Oddity—David Brighton’s Tribute to David Bowie. It is a live multimedia musical performance that takes audiences through several of Bowie’s stunning personas from over his decades-long career. The production recently toured throughout Europe, Canada and Asia. It is currently traveling around the U.S.

Brighton is a professional guitarist who has performed with industry giants such as Elton John, Morrissey and Barry Manilow. In addition, he actually performed some years ago with Bowie on a commercial for Vittel Mineral Water and also worked on Bowie’s Reality CD in the early 2000s.

Tickets for the show range from $37 to $80.
