Where to listen.
If you’re a music aficionado and are wondering where to catch a little jazz during the week, or a hard-rocking band on the weekend, from Little Italy to the Gaslamp, you’ll find what you need.
The Casbah – Little Italy
A San Diego classic, the Casbah is an intimate concert venue on the edge of Little Italy featuring indie and off-the-grid musical acts. Grab yourself a cheap brewskie or whiskey at the bar while listening to the sounds of bands that most people have never heard of.
The Music Box – Little Italy
This beautiful, three-floor musical venue is modern, new, and hosts a variety of acts, from rock to hip-hop to R&B and more. Lots of awesome fundraisers for the recent natural disasters have been on the forefront of their performance acts. Oh, and don’t miss their tasty grub and drinks.
Tin Roof – Gaslamp
You’ll find heavy American fare here, as well as live bands playing regularly at this large bar and restaurant in the Gaslamp. Come during the week for a laid-back vibe, or on weekends for packed dinner and dancing with old country and rock n’ roll tunes.
Onyx Room – Gaslamp
Known mostly as a nightclub, Onyx also features live Jazz nights and Latin Jazz nights during the week. Not a place you wanna visit on a weekend anyway (we’re talking lots of glitter and mobs of cologne-clad peeps) so weekday jazz sessions in their intimate bar area is the way to go.
