San Diego and Tijuana Join Hands for Potential Global Recognition

Our bi-national region is on the verge of winning the title of “World Design Capital” by the Montreal-based World Design Organization (WDO). 

The combined cities of San Diego and Tijuana rank as a finalist for receiving the prestigious recognition, which takes into account how regions across the globe structure their economic, environmental, political and cultural designs. The judges have narrowed us down only with Moscow.

They will announce their decision in October. Previous winners have included Helsinki, Cape Town, and Seoul. Should San Diego/Tijuana receive the honors, the WDO will sponsor a series of local events intended to shine a spotlight onto our region.
