Street Foods Galore

We’re taking our appetites to the streets of Downtown and Little Italy this month for food happenings that offer irresistible variety.
The new “Food Truck Wednesdays” by Curbside Bites attracts about six different vendors from 11-2 each week to a closed-off section of B Street, between Columbia and India. The trucks and picnic tables are in eye shot from Karl Strauss’ expanded front patio. Strollers will find everything from lemon chicken and beef souvlaki from Groovy Greek to burgers and roasted Brussels sprouts by Union Kitchen & Catering. There are also some seriously innovative tacos from Epic Eatz, pasta dishes from Pomodoro Rosso and more. The weekly lineup is listed here.
With state health restrictions lifting, Taste of Little Italy resumes this year in a new 2-day format on June 22-23.
The crowds will be better staggered as participants roam 48 square blocks sampling signature dishes from dozens of restaurants serving food both indoors and outdoors. Look for homemade gnocchi at Bencotto, braised meatballs by Pali Wine Co, cannolis from Caffe Italia, sausage and peppers from Petrini’s, and more. Tickets are $50 per day, with two time slots available for each (4-6p and 6-8p).
