Country Western Goes Big at Waterfront Park
By Frank Sabatini Jr.
With record sales seen at the Aug. 1 “Boots in the Park” music festival, its organizers have decided to give San Diego an encore of the event from noon to 10 p.m., Sept. 11.
The festival drew nearly 15,000 attendees at the beginning of the month, which was double the number from when it was last held at Waterfront Park in 2019. Because 2020 was a wash, Activated Events felt it was fitting to return next month and also commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
There’s talk of bringing in a Ferris Wheel for the second event, which will make way for headliner Jon Pardi as well as performances by Matt Stell, Mitchell Tenpenny, Ross Ellis and other hot names on the country-music circuit. Expect lots of cold beer, local food vendors and plenty of wiggle room for line dancing.
Tickets start at $79 and can be purchased here.
