Season 46: The Rep Returns to Life

By Frank Sabatini Jr.

After frequent speculation among theater goers whether the San Diego Repertory Theatre would launch into its next season under a virtual format like it did last year, the gods of live stage performances have delivered good news.

The 2021-2022 lineup, which marks The Rep’s 46th season, is rich with in-person productions, starting with “Mother Road,” an imagined sequel to The Grapes of Wrath that will run Oct. 7 through 31. It is by acclaimed Latinx playwright Octavio Solis, who has penned more than 25 plays that have been performed in major theaters throughout the country.

The season continues in November with “She the People” by the world-famous comedy troupe, Second City, and proceeds to six other productions written by a diverse array of writers. Register for free to receive the full schedule. Also, the Rep’s Covid safety policy can be found here.
